Sample itinerary 1: 2 day - Kakadu

    Maguk and Yellow Waters Billabong

    Day one sees us travelling along the historical Jim Jim Road, an adventurous 4WD track through outback bushland. We arrive in Kakadu National Park and stop at the tranquil waters of Maguk (Barramundi Gorge) for walking and swimming.

    Later in the day, we’ll take you on a sunset cruise through the vast Yellow Waters Billabong, which is teeming with wildlife. Your guide will take you across the water, sharing with you their vast knowledge of the region and all that inhabits it.

  • Day 2: Kakadu

    Ubirr, Nadab, Guluyambi Cruise, Arnhem Land

    On day two, we take you on a Guluyambi Cultural Cruise on the East Alligator River with a local Bininj guide. Hearing from the traditional custodians of the land is one of the most unique elements of this Offroad Dreaming tour. You will have the chance to step into Arnhem Land with your local guide and share an authentic cultural experience.

    In the afternoon, we make our way to Ubirr Rock, the site of some of the world’s oldest rock art. Your guide will walk you through the ancient rock galleries, where you will hear about the history and culture of the traditional custodians.

    We make our way up to the Nadab Lookout, which provides amazing 360° views over the wetlands of the Nadab floodplains.

Sample itinerary 2: 3 days - Kakadu and Litchfield

    Ubirr, Nadab, Guluyambi Cruise, Step into Arnhem Land

    On day one, we take you on a Guluyambi Cultural Cruise on the East Alligator River with a local Bininj guide. Hearing from the traditional custodians of the land is one of the most unique elements of this Offroad Dreaming tour. You will have the chance to step into Arnhem Land with your local guide and share an authentic cultural experience.

    In the afternoon, we make our way to Ubirr Rock, the site of some of the world’s oldest rock art. Your guide will walk you through the ancient rock galleries, where you will hear about the history and culture of the traditional custodians.

    We make our way up to the Nadab Lookout, which provides amazing 360° views over the wetlands of the Nadab floodplains.

  • Day two: Kakadu

  • Day three: Litchfield

    Wangi Falls, Florence Falls, Buley Rockhole

    On day three, you will visit the enchanting Wangi Falls, this will be your first opportunity to swim* in the crisp, clean Territory waters. Take a dip in the tranquil plunge pool below the face of the falls, or follow the 800m loop walk through the surrounding monsoon forest.

    We will move through native bushland en route to Florence Falls, another beautiful waterfall with a plunge pool below.

    After some more guided bushwalking, the cascading waters of Buley Rockhole offer yet another chance for a cooling dip.

    Throughout the day, you will see the magnetic Litchfield termite mounds and our guides will share their knowledge about the termite’s value to the unique tropical ecosystem and the formation of the mounds themselves.

    We will spend the afternoon in Nitmiluk National Park (formally Katherine National Park), lingering at the beautiful Edith Falls and the swimming hole beneath for a swim.

    Fogg Dam, Maguk and Yellow Waters Billabong

    Day one sees us make a stop at Fogg Dam, a wildlife haven boasting the highest diversity of species in the region. Continuing into Kakadu National Park, we make our way along the historical Jim Jim Road, an adventurous 4WD track through Outback Bushland. We arrive at the tranquil waters of Maguk (Barramundi Gorge) for bushwalking and swimming.

    Later in the day, we’ll take you on a cruise through the vast Yellow Waters Billabong, which is teeming with wildlife. Your guide will take you across the water, sharing with you their vast knowledge of the region.

  • Day two: Kakadu

    Jim Jim Falls

    The highlight of day two is the breathtaking Jim Jim Falls. Whether the falls are at a trickle or in full force, this is a truly special spot. Hemmed in by towering cliffs, the falls drop 150 meters into the serene plunge pool below. You’ll have the chance to view the falls from above, swim in the waters below and relax on the water’s edge.

  • Day three: Kakadu

Good to know before you go

  • Accomodation With warm nights, refreshing breezes and little chance of rain, camping is a fantastic way to see the Top End during dry season. We supply and transport everything you need and we will set up the campsite each day and prepare all meals. All of our preferred campsites have toilet and shower facilities. If you would prefer, we can organise comfortable hotel accommodation for the duration of your tour.
  • Our impact We take nothing but photos and we leave nothing but footprints. At Offroad Dreaming, we are proud to run ecologically-sustainable tours and we do our best to limit our impact on the environment in everything we do. We will share our knowledge and respect for the animals and environment with you throughout the day so you can enjoy the beauty of the location, knowing you’re leaving it in the same condition you found it.
  • Our vehicles All of our vehicles are air-conditioned and have tinted windows, providing a comfortable respite on the hotter Territory days.
  • Park facilities We will have regular access to toilet facilities throughout the adventure, including shower facilities at most campsites.
  • Swimming Dependent on which tour you choose, there could be an opportunity to swim. All of the swimming spots we visit can be enjoyed whether or not you decide to get wet. You can always relax on the banks, dip your feet in, or take a bush walk in the surrounding bush.
  • Walking You won’t be required to do any demanding walking on our tours if that is your preference. People of all ages and fitness levels can enjoy the beauty of the Top End together! If more adventurous bushwalking is your thing, you’ll have the chance to do that too.
